How to Apply for Managed Forest Class

RiverThere are four steps that a landowner takes to apply for Managed Forest Class:

  1. Ensure the land is eligible for Managed Forest class – see Managed Forest Land Class Requirements on this website
     
  2. Review the Private Managed Forest Land Act and regulations to ensure willingness to comply with these standards – see Managed Forest Legislation on this website
     
  3. Fill out a Management Commitment Form. The form is available on this website, or on request from the Council. Refer to the Management Commitment Form Instructions at the back of the form for details about the information required in the Management Commitment.
     
  4. LogsSend two complete copies of the Managed Forest Class Application to the Private Managed Forest Land Council at:

The application must include:

  • Signed Management Commitment
  • Map(s) showing property location, forest cover, and existing roads
     

 

Note that applications for Managed Forest Class must be received by the Council by August 31 of each year in order to be considered and processed for the next year’s assessment.
