Audits

An audit program is developed to focus on key themes that are identified by council. An audit examines a selected forest practice or a combination of forest practices.

The following audits have taken place:

2009

In 2008, the Council commissioned a limited scope audit to review the road management practices of managed forest owners in coastal British Columbia. The purpose was to assess the general standard of construction, maintenance and deactivation activities with the objective to assess compliance of road program activities with the 2007 and 2004 Council Regulation requirements.

2006

In 2006, the Council commissioned a limited scope audit to evaluate compliance with the regulation applicable to fish habitat and water quality. The audit examined operational activities and obligations in the areas of harvesting, road construction, maintenance and deactivation on a range of large, mid-size, and small properties on Vancouver Island.

2005

In 2005, the Council commissioned an audit of the Private Forest Land Program to assess compliance of forest practices with the Private Managed Forest Land legislation and to assess the effectiveness of the legislation in protecting key environmental values. The audit examined operational activities and obligations in the areas of harvesting, road construction, maintenance and deactivation, and reforestation on a combination of large, mid-size and small properties on Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast and the West Kootenays. These activities were assessed for compliance with the Private Forest Land Council Regulation requirements for fish habitat, water quality, forest soils and reforestation.
